Spektre’s Respekt Recordings ploughs on towards the end of 2010 sweeping all before it. Already clocking up an astonishing fifteen releases since Matt Cooper and Spektre’s Cuernos Cubanos EP back in 2009, many of the from the Spektre boys, it’s become as much of a statement of intent as a label, putting out release after release of techno, from the cavernous and dark to the glitchy and stripped back. Their latest, the Rolling Patterns EP, comes from Italians Anthony Castaldo & Snello.

It’s a two-track monster, a pair of unrelenting main-room techno efforts. The title track starts menacingly, the throbbing bassline and rasping percs punctuated by drops, building the energy and piling back into the mix like a high speed crash. Make no mistake, this is not for the faint-hearted. Similarly, Closer is dark and moody, albeit deeper than the A-side. The insistent sub-bass and fx give the track a spine, around which the elements drop in and out, with a more solid groove than the power of Rolling Patterns. Heavy.

Our 10th release comes courtesy of up and coming Techno bod, Seegee. Hailing from Nottingham, a city rich in electronic music, he is fast becoming a name to watch on the techno and tech-house radar and this double a-side EP should aptly demonstrate why. "Mudma" is a chugging, rolling monster of a techno track complemented by heaving effected and panned stabs that merge with the swirling, chaotic synth swells to create a tense, visceral peaktime bomb. "The "Frog and the Onion" maintains a similar ethic, if only shifting the groove slightly and adding some well advised swing to the proceedings. Add to that a highly catchy, repetitive hook and a some excellent percussive nods to the old school and you've got a potent, smoldering mix to cause a stir on many a dancefloor. Not for the fainthearted!

With Spektre's debut album causing a bit of a stir worldwide, it seemed like a very logical progression to to take two of the album's highlights and have them remixed by some of our favorite and most esteemed techno producers. Umek and Reset Robot hardly need any introduction-their many productions having cemented their reputations as A-listers in the techno world. Umek turns his hand to "Casting Shadows Without Light" and turns in a characteristically pounding version of the excellent original fusing his trademark drum and bass programming with Spekre's vocals and original parts to devastating effect. Reset Robot goes for "Descent" and creates a heads down percussion led dancefloor shaker, that is sure to stir up some commotion on a wide variety of dancefloors, the world over!

Respekt is the new label from Spektre; undoubtedly one of the hottest new acts to emerge in 2009. Lauded by the dance press, championed by the biggest names in techno (Vath, Dubfire, Garnier) and hugely popular with fans across the spectrum, Spektre's explosive sound has defines big room techno.

Having collaborated with Spektre on Respekt Recordings debut release, Matt Cooper now graduates to a full solo release for the label with his double aside Torture EP. A resident at Leeds' Dirty Disco events, Matt is one of the fastest rising talents in UK techno; known for his twisting and turning sets that cover a range of styles from deep melodic house to dark mind-warping techno.

Brazen Bull see's Cooper in deep and devastating form. Built on a foundation of a steady kick and minimized percussion, a throbbing groove provides a purposeful platform for the fx-laden vocal to enhance the tracks tense energy.

After the massive "Reklusives Volume 1" compilation (to celebrate Rekluse's first birthday) kicked up a fuss like a big crazy storm, Rekluse heads back to their very first release to continue the celebrations...

At the end of 2008, Umek 's huge "2nd To None" helped launch Rekluse in style, hitting the number 1 spot of the Beatport Techno charts and refusing to budge, with the track still lurking about in the top 100 over 6 months later. With an extensive list of A-list support, at the top would have to be Layo & Bushwacka who dropped the track during their set at the last ever party at The End.

Spektre have also just released their much acclaimed debut artist album and their remix is an ode to their impressive Respekt label. Relentless and fast paced, it's non stop adrenaline pumping all the way, chunky percussion flies in and out whilst the distinctive original siren appears at exactly the right moments to cause maximum impact.

Misstress Barbara has released and toured a full artist album in the time since 2nd To None 1st appeared over a year ago. Here she returns to the dancefloor, delivering a slamming rework with an insane break that comes complete with a guarantee that damage will indeed be done.

With impressive remixes of Fergie, Christian Smith & Reset Robot, Erphun and now Umek under his belt, co-label owner Henry Von is quickly making a name for himself as a highly rated remixer, as shown here with his hefty groove-filled take on the original. It builds up and up, twisting and turning before unleashing the fury with a fully packed knock-out punch.

Completing the package we have Matt Cooper, who we couldn't wait to have back after his Northern Light EP on Rekluse last year and his collaboration with Spektre on "Cuernos Cubanos". He turns in a heavy storm of a remix, with a low-slung bassline that grunts and grinds along whist elements from the original effortlessly weave in and out of the action to create a hyperactive yet heads-down state of mine.

"This is the debut album for U.K based Techno duo Spektre a.k.a Filthy Rich and Paul Maddox. Spektre have so far picked up support from d.j's like: Sven Vath, Ritchie Hawtin and Laurent Garnier among many others and have recently remixed the likes of: Fever ray, Lion Rock and Future Sound Of London. As d.j's they have also become very much in demand as Spektre Live and this album goes to show why, with it's cutting edge electronica and Techno vibe. The killer tracks for me are the opening track called 'Cloud Bending' a slightly more down-tempo slice of electronica that is deeply atmospheric and intense and the kind of track that all the right d.j's will be supporting! The next recommendation is a track called 'Descent' this is again a haunting and very atmospheric track that's on a slightly more housey vibe with cut up vocals that work to great effect. This then takes me onto more peak time tracks like 'Seq and Destroy' and 'Distant Fever' which illustrates that this has a versatile sound that will appeal to Techno and Electronica fans

► Respekt is the brand new label from Spektre; undoubtedly one of the hottest new acts to emerge in 2009. Lauded by the dance press, championed by the biggest names in techno (Vath, Dubfire, Garnier) and hugely popular with fans across the techno spectrum, Spektre’s big explosive sound has defined 2009.

The vision of producers / DJs Paul Maddox and Richard Wakley, Spektre was founded on a shared love for minimal techno and a willingness to experiment unmercifully with new sounds. Drawing inspiration as much from the old as the new their trademark sinister sound has wow-d fellow DJ and crowds alike.

Vektor is a dark destroyer. Building through waves of stripped back grooves, the main rising synth and acid laden hook comes flying out of the break with a force that is sure to knock over any peak-time dancefloor. Incognito continues the stripped back vibe of the EP with more rumbling deepness for the dark side. Los Suruba present reference number 14 of their Label, with Spektre feat. Chelonis R. Jones's great track “The Ride” which obtained support and recognition from artists such as Steve Lawler, Karotte, Dubfire, Stephan Bodzin, Mark Broom, Butch, Audiojack, Tom Stephan, etc...

This reference counts as well with the remixes of three new artists in the label (Kreon, Gorge, Minz) and an extra remix by the label capos: Los Suruba.

The first of the new members of the Suruba family is greek-born Mark Spanoudakis, better know as Kreon. This young helenic has left his imprint in labels such as Resopal, Cécille, Freerange, Be Chosen, Welcome to Masomenos, etc. Production partner of also greek Lemos, he took off with his famouth “Jack EP” which he produced on his own in own of most fashionable labels nowadays: Cécille.

The second remix was crafted by one of the artists of the moment, the german Gorge. Owner of 8Bit Records along with his friend Nick Curly. He has edited in Systematic, Freerange, Yellow Tail, Plastic City, Murmur... and he is also the host of the famous “Plastic City Radio Show” along with his friend Greg Silver in Ibiza Sónica.

Next in the list is dutch Minz. After his debut in 2007 in Perspectiv Records with his “Un/Mute EP”, he made clear that his style is an elaborated and deep Tech House. Publishing another release at Ripperton's Label, he was soon requested for labels such as Connaisseur or Meerestief.

To close this great release we have the remix of the Label's chieftains, Los Suruba. Having published their first release at the beginning of 2007, in addition to managing the Suruba family (Suruba Records, Suruba X y Suruba Digital) they've had time to remix artists such as Tigerskin, Moonbeam, Spektre, Ludovic Vendi, Chelonis R. Jones & Audioma.

Seventh reference of the Spanish-German label that after the success with its previous release, getting the support from artists like Gregor Tresher, Danny Tenaglia or Gabriel Ananda, it comes with a big ep from the Belgian artist Hermanez, and a brilliant pack of remixes by the young English duo Spektre and the Brasilian Wehbba.

Los Suruba sign reference number 13 of their own label, which counts with the remixes of four artists of the house: Spektre, Kanio, Elia y Olene Kadar.

We could already hear of them as HeadphonesHead (their most eclectic aka) in the first reference of the label in which their track "Madthumbs" was their presentation letter at the beginning of 2007.
After this first release together, they signed separately the remixes of "Sequenced Frame" by Tigerskin; in 2008 they also remixed "Ending" by Ludovic Vendi (Suruba 005) and "Zombies" by Robopimp in the French label Catalytic.
In this 2009 they have remixed Englishmen Spektre twice and soon we will be able to listen to their remixes of "The Bat Eyes" by Moonbeam and "Butchers Dock" by Audioma for V-Label.

Spektre are part of the Suruba family since the release of "88 Mph Ep" (Suruba 004), and from that moment they haven't stopped releasing hits and top10ers i labels such as Great Stuff, Blufin, Dekadent, UFO or Suruba, of course, reaching number 1 at the Techno Chart during several weeks in Beatport.

Kanio is one of the English artists who's having the biggest repercussion in the actual techno scene, and after various remixes in Suruba he has remixed for labels such as Traum, UFO, Yellow Tail and moreover he has funded his own label Novakane Records...

For the digital version, this release counts with 2 more remixes, first one by one the artists closest to the Suruba family, young Elia. The second is by Dutch Olene Kadar, from whom we could already enjoy of his particular way of understanding electronic music in ref. Suruba 007, and he is also one of the most usual suspects in Mos Ferry label.
